Lysistrata by Aristophanes
The set and costume design span two millennia, with the women representing significant women’s protests in UK history - the English Civil War protest of 1643, the suffragette and the 60s women’s movements. The men: a Roman soldier and a 21st century right wing politician. For the set, women’s protest banners from across the globe line the walls in opposition to a solitary, phallic cannon. All made from cardboard, the material of protest.
